This website is a hodgepodge of elements thrown together by Yours Truly for the sole purpose of amusing myself and, perhaps occasionally, others. Most likely you’ll just find it boring though. After all, who really wants to sift through my monotonous portfolio?  Or, worst of all, take a look into the inner-workings of my mind in my blog? I am Alex Laird, a 2011 Computer Science graduate of Cedarville University, Software Engineer at Rockwell Collins, Owner of Branches Hosting, freelance programmer, and server administrator extraordinaire. I earned a wife named Jessica from Cedarville, so I recommend the school.  I am also the youngest sibling of a crazy oldest sister (Jenna), one brother (Andrew), and one other sister (Ashley).

Being born and raised into a Christian family, I have since made God (not to be confused with religion) the center of my life; my faith is something I’m particularly passionate about, which is most likely one reason I’ve decided to attend a Christian University and get a minor in Biblical Studies. My faith in Christ is the most important thing in my life.

As far as personal interests and random facts go, I’m very interested in my relationships with friends and family, programming and web design, table tennis, Rubik’s cubes, basically anything technologically innovative, and creative writing. I’ve never officially been able to decide on a favorite band, but I’ll usually listen to any music from any genre.  More specifically, I love bands that put effort into combining meaningful lyrical content, especially that I can relate to personally, with creative and unique sounds. Just not too creative. As far as movies go, my favorites are (to name a few) Gladiator, V for Vendetta, The Prestige, Blood Diamond, and The Simpsons Movie. On that note, my favorite TV shows are Seinfeld, The Simpsons, and Breaking Bad. And what kind of a Computer Science major would I be if I didn’t enjoy Firefly?

In addition, I love witty sarcasm and all things humorous. Bill Cosby and Jerry Seinfeld are always favorites as far as comedians go, and I’m currently digging Brian Regan and Demetri Martin. I’m also a big fan of Jon Stewart and the entire cast of The Daily Show.
